Engineering Services

Torc was established in Brisbane and has expanded operations across Australia. Torc can deliver small to complex engineering projects for clients in mining, nuclear, oil and gas, electrical and water infrastructure, government and the renewable/green industries. Torc is recognised as reliable and trustworthy to complete projects on time, within budget, to specification and within Australian Standards. As members of Engineers Australia, our engineers work within high governance standards and are constantly upskilling with the latest engineering principles and world class standards.

Asset Management

Torc reliability engineers work closely with our customers to enhance the safety and reliability of their assets. Our engineers are proficient in projects within the mining, construction, manufacturing, hazardous waste facilities and other complex technological industries. Our scope includes sensitivity assessment, data collection and analysis, human reliability, test and maintenance policies, modeling for aging and safety criteria system analysis.

Our Team

Liam McLaren - Director & Engineering Manager

As an experienced mechanical engineer, Liam has supported leading manufacturers and producers globally through design, project management, installation and commissioning of equipment as well as driving performance improvement of client’s assets through asset management principles. Liam specialises in large scale projects within the bulk material handling and automotive industries. His passion is reliability centred design in both equipment manufacture as well as systemic optimisation of maintenance practices for existing assets and operations. Qualifications: BEng (Hons) – Mechanical and Aerospace, MIE (Aust).

David Madsen - Mechanical Engineer

David has extensive experience as a reliability and maintenance engineer within Australia’s resource industry. He has led capital works projects, designed operational readiness systems, performed asset engineering and structural remediation projects within fixed and mobile plant areas. David has been instrumental in providing solutions to clients when diagnosing system deficiencies (such as defect elimination and plant performance assessments for availability) and providing sustainable outcomes for clients who are seeking operational excellence. Qualifications: BEng (Hons) – Mechanical and Aerospace.

Jason de Wever - Asset Management Specialist

As a senior electrician and reliability specialist, Jason possesses practical and onsite experience with heavy industrial and mining applications. He has extensive experience installing and maintaining commercial and mining HVAC systems, as well as CHPP operational maintenance. He specialises in developing practical maintenance strategies and performing operational readiness tasks for customers requiring consistent or improved availability. His experience ranges through the Australian resources sector through sites such as GEMCO, Greogory Mine, Ensham and many other heavy industrial high voltage switching applications. Qualifications: Electrician (Specialist instrumentation & hazardous area).

Jomar Ortega - Senior Mechanical Designer/Draftsman

With more than 15 years of dedicated experience in overseeing and preparing detailed designs/drawings of mechanical engineering solutions, Jomar is rightly placed as Torc Industries’ Senior Mechanical Designer/Draftsperson. Jomar specialises in optimising design solutions to complex customer challenges whilst promoting safety and sustainability. His experience ranges from large scale bulk material handling equipment to individual components and improvement projects. Jomar’s experience in drafting management is second to none and his unique skillset provides a professional approach to our customer’s success. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Sandy Drummond - Operations Manager

As our operations manager, Sandy brings her skillset as a risk management specialist and certified ISO Quality Safety and Environmental auditor. She has extensive operational experience within the heavy industrial, manufacturing, and mining (surface and underground) sectors. Sandy’s experience ranges from regulatory compliance to non-process infrastructure and her passion lies in safety systems, operational leadership systemic design to yield the highest level of organizational excellence. Qualifications: MA (OHSE), BA (CW).

Torc Industries Pty Ltd is a specialist engineering & asset management consultancy business with a high performing team of professional engineers, designers, technical writers, asset management and master data specialists.
We have extensive design and asset management experience from within the resources (mining and minerals processing), defence and utilities sectors.

Our experience ranges from:

  • Development of Asset Management standards, policies, and frameworks, through to SAMPS, AMPs (site and asset specific) right through to Operational Readiness (Full FMECA’s, maintenance tactic and strategy development, inclusive of all master data and documentation) for new, updated, and existing assets
  • Full design capacity from concept to completion for small to medium sized projects (including concept modelling, project progression, certification and finalisation, detailing)
  • Technical support (shutdowns/maintenance and minor improvements engineering)
  • Project support services (general master data works, technical writing, and drafting/detailing)
